psubrat: (doctor - the master - in ur show)

Two hot men in billowing coats!! ::sigh:: I think this answers the age old question of: Is there room for two hot men with billowing coats on the same show? Absolutely.

Martha: I thought you were going to say he was your secret brother or something.
Ten: You've been watching too much TV.

Love that bit of interaction.

I liked that we finally got some motivation for Martha. This is what I've been waiting for all season -- for them to give us a reason to like and understand her. Her family being kidnapped by Saxon, I think, is motivation enough. I'm even starting to feel something for her mother, other than loathing. I get her. I get that she thought she was doing the best thing for her child. She was duped just like everyone else, but the father saw through it. It doesn't make her mum a bad person, just makes her human and protective of her daughter.

I'm glad that we didn't get to see the Torchwood crew. It just wouldn't have been right, not in this episode. And how about Jack trying to explain to Ten why he works there? "I rebuilt it. I changed it. And when I did that, I did it for you in your honor!" ::pets Jack:: I wish Who!Jack could be the one on Torchwood since this one's a lot more fun and cracks more jokes. Torchwood!Jack is far too serious for me.

One of my favorite parts: Getting to see where Ten came from. I would love to see more about Ten's home world and find out more about the Time Lords in general. Can anyone point me to some info?

Saxon watched the Teletubbies! OMG! That's hilarious. He watched the Teletubbies. You know he's evil and demented if he's watching them! Hee!

John Simm is incredible as The Master. Wow. He plays an insane person really, really well. Those of you out there who are old Who fans, tell me, is Simm one of the better Masters? Maybe I should just start downloading the old eps so that I don't keep asking questions. Oh, I see that it's almost impossible to watch the old eps, since, ya know, they're kinda missing. Damn.

I'm worried about Ten. He seems to be in quite a pickle, doesn't he? ::pets the Doctor:: And the poor, poor Tardis. What has the Master done to you?? Oh, look, you're nothing but an amplifier now, bringing the downfall of humanity. Woe. Something tells me the heart of the Tardis would not approve.

"Laser screwdriver! Who'd have sonic?" Brilliant. Sure does put things into perspective a bit, doesn't it? It seems that the Master has tried to make Ten look like an amateur by comparison when it comes to brains -- but he's mad, around the bend, so I think Ten will come out victorious in the end. Sanity does seem to trump brains every time.

Now, I am completely and totally unspoiled for next week's series finale. But I am so tempted to go find out what the heck happens. I need to know, is Ten going to make it? Or is Eleven going to show up at the end of "Last of the Time Lords". Wait, don't tell me. Yes, tell me, please. NO! Don't!! Must. Be. Strong.

Is it next Saturday yet???

Actually, old episodes with the Master have survived, as he came along during the Third Doctor's era, and One and Two are the ones missing their episodes. He first showed up in Terror of the Autons. Some of the better (IMO) old school Master stories are "The Daemons", "The Sea Devils", and "The Time Monster".

This Master blows the others out of the water. COMPLETELY. The old Master was more of a MWAHAHAHA! mustache-twirling camp melodrama villain. This one is truly scary, and much more fun.

I'm going to try to watch the older eps. I'm very curious now as to how everything started.

I'm glad Simm blows the other Masters out of the water. He's just so...good at playing insanely evil. I watched him on Life On Mars and liked him on that, but I never thought he'd be able to play someone as batshit crazy as this. I'm so impressed.

I'm so enjoying this arc! I love the insanity of The (I like it when you say my name) Master.;P

Two hot men in billowing coats!! ::sigh:: I think this answers the age old question of: Is there room for two hot men with billowing coats on the same show? Absolutely.

I had a moment of squee over this too!

You know when Jack was telling Ten why he was working for Torchwood, I had an Angel at W&H moment. :)

I've used Wikipedia with great success in gaining backstory. They have quite a bit of info on The Master, and I'm sure they would for Gallifrey, too.

Dude, Ten is so his bitch, isn't he?

Yeah, I agree about the Angel moment. Trying to change the evil from within. I hope it doesn't harden Jack too much. Aren't they saying that Who and Torchwood are just rip offs of BtVS and AtS anyway? Personally, I never thought so, but then I'm oblivious when it comes to stuff like that -- I just enjoy shows to enjoy them.

I used Wikipedia last week too for information on the Master. I think this summer's project is to start watching the older episodes. It may take me longer than summer, but I'm willing to give it a go.

Well, considering that Who predates BtVS by eons... *g*

I don't know. I guess there is bound to be similarities between all supernatural/sci fi shows.

I think this summer's project is to start watching the older episodes.

That's what I'm doing. I just finished watching the first arc of the first Doctor, and now I've started the second arc which is the introduction of the Daleks. Exterminate! *g*

Simm's is rockin' the Master. The older ones were fun, but campy. Derek Jacobi's stint was ever so brief, but brilliant. Eric Roberts sucked. A lot. A whole heaping lot.

I'm unspoiled, but I don't want to be, so if you get the inside scoop, send it my way!

Not being an old school fan does have its drawbacks at times. I've been trying to picture someone else playing the role as well as Simm, so it's nice to hear that Simm is nailing it in ways no one else has. I adore John Simm.

If I find anything about next week's ep, I'll email you. I went looking for spoilers last night on the web, but I couldn't find anything. I took that as a sign. LOL

Could have been worse. Could've been Barney.

Could you imagine him watching Barney?? OMG, that would have been even more brilliant. But the Teletubbies bit cracked me up.

*nods*

John Simm was wonderful. I don't want The Master to be defeated too soon. I'm kinda worried for DT's doctor though.
